About The Program

The Yolo County Oral Health Program (YCOHP) was established to address disparities in access to oral health care and promote community programs, policies, and oral health literacy aimed at reducing dental decay, particularly among children.  The program is funded through Proposition 56 tax revenues and is administered by the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency, with funding secured through June 30, 2027. Our mission is to ensure that all Yolo County residents have access to continuous, preventive dental care. Our work implements school-based and school-linked-initiatives designed to reduce barriers to care and connect children and families to essential dental services.

Through strong partnerships with community organizations, YCOHP works to provide residents with the education, resources, and access to care they need to keep healthy smiles for life.

The program focuses on five key areas:

  • Oral health education
  • School-based/School-linked dental services
  • Access to dental care
  • Local oral health data collection
  • Outreach and care management services

Strategic Goals/Needs Assessments

Every five years, the advisory committee convenes to develop an Oral Health Strategic Plan based on an Oral Health Needs Assessment. Click on the links below to download the 2017 and 2022 Needs Assessments, Strategic Plans, and Associated Outcome Measures.

Evaluation

The Oral Health Evaluation Plan was developed in 2019 by the Yolo County Health & Humans Services Agency Oral Health Program in collaboration with the Office of Oral Health. The Evaluation Plan is a framework to assess the efficacy and impact of the program’s goals and outcome measures delineated in the Strategic Plan and an Evaluation Report is written following the close of every 5-year grant cycle. Additionally, a new Evaluation Plan is written with the start of a new 5-year grant cycle and serves as a guide for future program development, quality improvement, and accountability.
