The Cache Creek Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) invites members of the public to attend the annual Creek Walk on June 16^th, 17^th, and 18^th. The Creek Walk is an essential component of the annual monitoring required by the Cache Creek Resource Management Plan. The TAC walks down the channel of Lower Cache Creek from the Capay Dam to Huff’s Corner near I-5, observing changes in geomorphology, hydrology, and the riparian ecosystem, including vegetation and wildlife habitat. Observations from the Creek Walk are synthesized into an annual report with recommendations for improving the creek’s physical conditions and monitoring program. The 2026 report will be published by March 2027. Prior reports can be found on the TAC’s webpage. 

Attendees must RSVP at this form, and should be prepared for strenuous conditions, including extreme heat, wading through cold water, and bushwhacking through vegetation. Participants must bring their own food and water in a backpack and wear suitable field clothing, such as a sunshirt, wide-brimmed hat, lightweight pants, shoes comfortable for walking and getting wet, hiking poles, sunscreen, and sungloves. The length of the Cache Creek Resources Management Plan area is divided into three segments:

• Segment #1 - Capay Dam to Syar Industries LLC Madison Plant Site
  
  
• Segment #2 - Syar Industries LLC Madison Plant Site to Cache Creek Nature Preserve
  
  
• Segment #3 - Cache Creek Nature Preserve to Huff's Corner at Interstate 5

The Creek Walk occurs over three days with one segment being covered a day.  Each day begins around 7 AM and finishes anywhere between 1 PM and 4 PM (there is no set "end time" for the Creek Walk).  Depending on area covered each day, anywhere from 7 to 9 miles can be walked in a single segment.
