What is the Home Energy Score?

The Home Energy Score (HES) is one of several free programs offered through the Yolo Energy Partnership (YEP)—a County initiative to help unincorporated Yolo County residents save energy and reduce utility costs.

Developed by the U.S. Department of Energy, the HES is a simple, straightforward assessment of your home’s energy efficiency. Think of it like a “miles per gallon” rating, but for your home.

The assessment provides:

  • A score from 1 to 10 (10 being the most efficient).
  • Detailed recommendations for cost-effective energy improvements.
  • Estimates of potential energy cost savings.
