The Yolo County Climate Compact functions as a clearinghouse for information related to climate change and greenhouse gas reduction in Yolo County. Information includes:

Laws and Regulations: New state and federal statues or regulations, as well as updates on current laws and regulations.

Funding opportunities such as grants, utility incentives, etc.

Best Practices, on a range of subjects, but with a specific focus programs for cities, counties, agencies, or schools to reduce VMT.
AWARDS & ACHIEVEMENTS
- In 2017, Awarded the Beacon Spotlight Award (Platinum Level) due to climate action and sustainability efforts and were recognized for achievements in energy efficiency and conservation activity, water and wastewater systems activity, green building activity, waste reduction and recycling activity, climate-friendly purchasing activity, renewable energy and low-carbon fuels activity, efficient transportation activity, land use and community design activity, open space and offsetting carbon emissions activity, and community and individual action activity.
- Helped form a Joint Powers Agency with the City of Davis to purchase electricity for residents and businesses in the county and city through a community choice energy program, called the Valley Clean Energy Alliance (VCEA), which now also includes the City of Woodland. - Pursued entering into a Local Government Partnership with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. to form the Yolo Energy Watch (YEW) to promote energy efficiency in the residential, commercial, and agricultural sectors. Climate action planning efforts by Yolo Energy Watch include:
- Participation on the Yolo County Climate Action Working group, including a discussion of creating a Green Team and a Revolving Fund to finance energy efficiency in county buildings with a savings returned to the fund for additional projects.
- Helping fund jurisdictions in joining the Climate Registry, an organization that provided third party verification of emission inventories and in claimed reductions.
- Funding half of the stipend for CivicSpark Fellows to assist the cities of Winters, Woodland, Davis, West Sacramento, and UC Davis.
- Funding and participating in an effort by a UC Davis professor and her students to construct options for Climate Action Plans for the various cities.
