WHO ARE WE?
In September 2020, the Yolo County Board of Supervisors approved a Climate Emergency Declaration (Resolution No. 20-114) which set a countywide goal of achieving a carbon negative footprint by 2030, while ensuring a just transition to an inclusive, equitable, sustainable, & resilient local economy.
This Resolution called for the creation of the Yolo County Climate Action Commission (YCCAC), a public advisory body charged with the development and implementation of the 2030 Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) and ensuring vulnerable, marginalized, and historically underserved communities are centered in the process.
Thanks in large part to the leadership, input, and dedication of the YCCAC and community partners, the Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the CAAP in December 2024. Residents can now visit the County's Climate Action Dashboard climateaction.yolocounty.gov to explore the plan, track progress, pledge to take action, and learn about programs, rebates, incentives, and other opportunities that support community climate action.
As the County moves into this next phase of work, the YCCAC continues to play an important advisory role by helping guide implementation of the CAAP, recommending annual priorities, supporting equitable community engagement, and advancing collaborative solutions that move Yolo County toward its climate goals.
