Application & Information
Thank you for your interest in Yolo County’s Cannabis Use Permit program. A Cannabis Use Permit is an approval granted by Yolo County that entitles a specific property to operate a particular type of commercial cannabis use, such as cultivation, processing, distribution, retail, etc. Cannabis Use Permits require environmental review in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and CEQA Guidelines. Cannabis Use Permits are decided upon by the Planning Commission at a duly noticed public hearing (decisions may be appealed to the Board of Supervisors). Securing a Cannabis Use Permit approval is the initial step toward obtaining a cannabis license.
Before submitting an application, please see the following below:
- New cannabis cultivation and all cannabis-related activities are prohibited in the Capay Valley. You may use our public GIS viewer to search a location ensuring it's not within the boundaries of the Capay Valley. https://arcg.is/1OjKCz4
- Cannabis retail-storefront operations are prohibited within the Clarksburg growth boundary.
- Cannabis Use Permit applicants must demonstrate compliance with buffers between any cannabis use and any identified sensitive land use areas. Click here for buffer guidelines.

The County will accept applications beginning January 5th, 2026.

- An initial deposit of $22,623.80 is required upon submittal. Fees are subject to change - please consult with a planner prior to applying. Fees are a deposit, and additional fees may be required.
