Post Date:06/10/2026 10:00 AM

Renowned Oakland artist TheArthur Wright will have prints of his bleach art on display throughout June and July at the Mary L Stephens-Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis. The exhibit will be displayed in the Blanchard Room and available for viewing during the library’s regular operating hours. The library will also host a free Talk with the Artist on Sunday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m. No reservation is required.

Wright’s bleach art has been exhibited internationally and featured at educational institutions including Stanford, UCLA and Sonoma State University. His artwork “Califia, Queen of California” was selected as the official poster for the 2003 Carnaval Festival in San Francisco.

Wright discovered the bleaching technique by accident while attempting to repair a watercolor. By applying bleach with a bamboo skewer to a special black art paper, he creates striking images as the paper transforms into rich gold tones.

The program is sponsored by the Yolo County Office of Education and the Friends of the Davis Public Library. For more information, visit www.YoloCountyLibrary.org or connect with the Library on Facebook and Instagram at @yolocountylibrary.
