PRESS RELEASE
Yolo County Library will celebrate Lunar New Year with a vibrant afternoon of cultural performances on Saturday, February 7, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Davis Veterans Memorial Center located at 203 E. 14th Street in Davis, next door to the Stephens-Davis Branch Library.
The Lunar New Year officially begins on Tuesday, February 17, welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse. In traditional Chinese zodiac, individuals born in a Fire Horse year are often described as energetic, bold, and fiercely independent, with strong leadership qualities, creativity, and a passion for forging their own path.
The celebration will open with dragon and lion dances, followed by folk dances, live music, ballet, and martial arts. Each attendee will receive a traditional red envelope containing a free ticket for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses and organizations.
The event is free and open to the public, and no reservation is required. The program is sponsored and supported by the City of Davis Arts and Cultural Affairs Fund and Friends of the Davis Public Library.
