The Yolo County Sustainability Division is seeking seven community members to serve on the Yolo County Climate Action Commission (YCCAC), a public advisory body that helps guide the implementation of the County’s Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP). The Commission plays a key role in advancing the County’s goal of achieving net-negative emissions by 2030 while ensuring that climate action efforts are equitable, community-driven, and grounded in on-the-ground expertise.

The YCCAC was established following the Board of Supervisors’ 2020 climate emergency declaration, which called for a just, inclusive mobilization to respond to the climate crisis. After helping develop the CAAP, which outlines 10 strategies, 40 measures, and 183 actions, the Commission is now shifting its focus to implementation. This next phase includes reviewing annual workplans, advising on new programs and policies, and providing early input on major projects with potential climate impacts.

The updated Commission Charter, adopted by the Board of Supervisors in Fall 2025, reflects this shift and strengthens the Commission’s structure to better support implementation. The restructured body includes nine voting members and two ex-officio members, with staggered terms of two to three years. Current vacancies include:

  • Five Supervisorial District Representatives (Board-appointed from each supervisorial district)
  • One Environmental Justice Lead (Board-appointed with staff recommendation)
  • One Business Community Lead (Board-appointed with staff recommendation)

The Commission also includes a Natural and Working Lands Subject Matter Expert appointed by the Yolo Resource Conservation District, a Transportation Subject Matter Expert appointed by the Yolo Transportation District (YTD), and two ex-officio representatives from UC Davis and the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.

Community members are encouraged to apply to help guide local implementation of climate solutions that prioritize equity, community resilience, and sustainability. Applications for the Yolo County Climate Action Commission will be accepted through December 12 and can be submitted online at www.YoloCounty.gov/government/board-of-supervisors/advisory-bodies
