Yolo County Public Works to Begin Road Shoulder and Sign Installation Work Along South River Road

Post Date:10/31/2025 9:00 AM

PRESS RELEASE

Yolo County Public Works staff will begin work along South River Road from the City of West Sacramento city limits to the Freeport Bridge starting Monday, November 3. The project is expected to continue through the next month.

“Maintaining safe and reliable roadways is one of our top priorities,” said District 1 Yolo County Board of Supervisors, Oscar Villegas. “This work along South River Road will not only improve driving conditions but also help ensure the safety of everyone who travels this corridor. We appreciate the community’s patience as Public Works completes these important improvements.”

The work will include the installation of new “No Shoulder” traffic signs to alert motorists to the lack of road shoulder in several areas, as well as adding aggregate material to repair sections of the shoulder that have eroded over time.

To ensure a safe work zone, construction will require intermittent road and lane closures. Work will be performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with the roadway fully reopened to traffic each evening. Travelers should expect delays due to these road and lane closures and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Flaggers and signage will be in place to guide motorists around the work area with local access to properties and businesses to be maintained during construction.

The construction schedule will be weather dependent. If the work is not concluded before the week of Thanksgiving, installation of traffic signs and shoulder repairs may extend into early December. Changeable message boards will be placed along the corridor alerting motorists to ongoing work and potential delays.

Motorists are advised to drive the South River Road corridor with caution.
